I hope they fix the bug because you do destroy the beach trying to get your seamoth out. Just wanted to post this in case anyone ran into this. Thanks again for the responses folks, even if I saw them too late. Though that is something on my subnautica bucket list anyways. (thank you protopod) I wish I had gone back to read again after spending hours touring the tunnels. I went back to my old thread and saw that someone did indeed make this suggestion. I ended up using a terraformer and dug it out, and then sunk it.

Tried doing game reset and the seamoths rez before the Island. And there are a lot of tunnels, more than you would think. Learned several things: the reaper goes into the lower tunnels.
